Yoga is self awareness resulting in a union of mind, body and soul. It helps realign the bones, ease muscle tension and build overall body strength, flexibility and balance. While Yoga itself is a way of being, the Yoga practices are methods to help guide us into the self awareness that unites our entire being. Sessions and classes tend to focus on the practice of postures (asana), shapes we create with our bodies which combine physical alignment with mental alertness and awareness of breath.
Practices help strengthen and tone our muscles and can increase flexibility around the joints, but also boost the flow of healing energy (prana) through energy channels (nadis) which nourishes us on all levels.
Session format:
Warm Up:
Beginning with a thorough warm-up using postures to release and limber all the major joints and muscle groups, this section is typically low impact with slower movements..
Sequencing:
Using a systematic approach, through breath, movement and sequencing we move the body, warm up the muscles, awaken the cardio-vascular system.
Variation and Cool Down:
As confidence and mastery grow, more challenging variations are offered before the cool down
